Manufacturing Engineer

Summary:  Develops and implements manufacturing processes in accordance with strategic directives, product specifications and quality standards.  Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training in conjunction with Marketing and Engineering Management
  • Reviews and analyzes data and information in order to improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of the current status of each project
  • Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
  • Tracks industry trends, relevant legislation, and competitor activities

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field strongly preferred, five (5) to seven (7) years relevant work experience preferably in a construction equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification preferred
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Suite and a proficiency with SolidWorks

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms/hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific visions abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
